Because Cozy is more than just a Pinterest board- It’s a way of Living
I've been using the word infused a lot lately so I thought I should make sure I'm using it correctly or that it fits what I'm trying to say, and I'd say it does quite perfectly!!
in·fuse
/inˈfyo͞oz/
instill (a quality) in someone or something.
Soak (tea, herbs, etc.) in liquid to extract the flavor or healing properties.
I love these two meanings as metaphors for living lives infused with coziness.
Often cozy is associated with a certain type of aesthetic or a “vibe”.
It’s a descriptive word commonly used for a pair of fuzzy socks, a hot cup of tea in your favorite chair, or a warm, cozy sweater.
What do we feel when we wear the “cozy” socks or sweaters? We feel warm, comfortable, comforted, happy, and well, we feel cozy.
Okay, let’s now think about the Pinterest board. You know the ones I’m talking about. The “cozy” home decor that we spend so much time pinning. We have these strong urges or desires to create a certain “feeling” in our homes. We want them to be “cozy”.
You’re after a “feeling” just like when you wear those fuzzy socks. You want a place to relax in, feel warm, comfortable, and “cozy”.
It’s a feeling. It’s a valid desire to want this feeling, but I’d like you to see that it’s so much more than just a well-decorated home. It’s more than the pins you’re adding to the Pinterest board.
A warm cozy blanket, warm lighting or the glow of twinkle lights are nice, as are your fuzzy socks, but it goes far beyond just that, and that’s what I’d like to explore with you.
I’d like to explore the idea of infusing our lives with cozy. That we adopt a way of living and being that gives us the feeling of coziness that we’re seeking.
If you look at the meaning of the word infuse, it says:
•To instill a quality in someone or something
•to soak tea in liquid to extract the flavor or healing properties.
I love that so much. I mean, a hot cup of tea is a very nice way to cozy up on a cold winter's day, but I want to focus on the healing properties.
Friend, when we take the time to add intentionality to our day, when we infuse our life with calm and coziness, it brings healing to our souls and to our nervous system.
It goes so much beyond just an aesthetic.
To create an environment that promotes healing, will also promote growth, and allow for a life rich with experiences that bring you joy and a sense of purpose.
I am definitely guilty of September rolling around and being one of the first to exclaim that it's "Gilmore Girls" season. We all crave a sense of warmth and coziness in our lives and in our homes.
I'm here to help you find a way to add it to both, so you can feel the coziness you crave all year long.
I'm glad you're here. Pull up a comfy chair and a warm beverage, and let's get cozy!
xoxo, Jen
